BIO

Krista Carson (she/her) is a Canadian writer, educator, and PhD candidate. She is currently completing her doctoral dissertation, Footnotes: A Practice-Based Exploration into Walking, Writing, and Creativity, through the School of Creative Arts at the University of Gloucestershire. Her research explores the relationship between walking and creativity—both as subject and method—within artistic practice.

Krista holds two Master’s degrees: an MA in Integrated Studies from Athabasca University, with specializations in Cultural Studies and Equity Studies, and an MA in Creative and Critical Writing (with Distinction) from the University of Gloucestershire. Her creative thesis for the latter, The Apartment Collection: Works and Reflective Critical Understanding, included a suite of short fiction and was completed under the supervision of poet and educator Alicia Stubbersfield. Krista also holds a postgraduate certificate from the distinguished Humber School for Writers, where she developed a cozy historical mystery (in-progress), Unfurled, under the mentorship of Governor General’s Award-winning author Dianne Warren.

Outside of her academic work, Krista writes fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry. Her writing often explores nature/culture through a feminist lens. Her work has recently appeared in Petal Projections, SWAMP, and Synkroniciti. She also teaches humanities and social sciences part-time at the college level.

Krista lives in southwestern Ontario with her husband, daughter, and whippet.
